Breech Babies: Turning the Tide with Your Options!

Welcome to Our Breech Baby Support Page!

Expecting a baby is an exhilarating journey, but for some parents, the arrival of a breech baby can create uncertainty and concern. I understand the challenges that come with this situation. The good news? You have options!

What Does a Breech Baby Mean?

A breech baby is positioned with its feet or buttocks down in the birth canal instead of the head. This occurs in about 3-4% of pregnancies at term, and while it may seem daunting, it doesn't have to be a barrier to a safe delivery.

Your Options for Delivery

1. External Cephalic Version (ECV): This is a procedure where our experienced team gently manipulates the baby’s position from the outside of your abdomen. Many babies successfully turn to the head-down position this way!

2. Planning a Breech Birth: If your baby remains in a breech position, we can discuss the possibility of a vaginal breech delivery. Our skilled team will assess your health and the baby's condition to determine if this option is right for you.

3. Cesarean Section: In some cases, a cesarean section may still be the safest option for both you and your baby. We’ll ensure that you understand the reasons for this choice and what the process will entail.
